Overview
After finishing his undergraduate degree in biology at Florida International University, Dr. Fernando Miranda earned his medical degree at Pennsylvania State University. He completed a residency in surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine and a fellowship in surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Miranda is board-certified in surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He sees patients for general surgery, including hernia, gall bladder, bowel, stomach and heartburn problems, as well as bariatric surgery, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy or correction of a sleeve gastrectomy, which involves either removing a band or converting from a gastric sleeve to a gastric bypass. Dr. Todd David Wilson is an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston who focuses on advanced surgery of the abdomen and gastrointestinal tract. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and then served in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer for six years. After three decorated tours of service, he found his home in Houston where he earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2003. He stayed at the university to complete his surgical residency training in 2008 and then completed advanced training with a fellowship of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Wilson joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2009 where he practices surgery that embraces state of the art techniques to proved patients with optimal surgical results with the least impact on the patient. At the medical school, he serves as the Medical Director of Surgical Training and part of the Elective General Surgery team. He is active academically with membership in several medical societies and has received academic recognition and published or presented articles.
