Jacqueline Madison, M.D. is a Clinical Assistant Professor in both Rheumatology in the Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatric Rheumatology in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Madison earned her bachelor’s degree at Yale University before moving back to her home state of Michigan where she earned her degree in medicine at the University of Michigan. She next completed her Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency followed by a combined fellowship in adult and pediatric Rheumatology at the University of Michigan.Dr. Madison sees patients with rheumatic disease across the age spectrum. She cares for children, adolescents, and adults in Rheumatology. She cares for patients with all rheumatic disease and frequently sees patients with arthritis, lupus, antiphospholipid syndrome, myositis, vasculitis, and autoinflammatory disease. She is enthusiastic about helping patients fit their medical needs into a full life.Dr. Madison participates in research on Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) with the Knight Lab. She contributes to research related to understanding the mechanisms of APS and how the disease manifests in a variety of ways in patients. She has a particular interest in pediatric patients with APS. Dr. Madison also collaborates with Dr. Turnier and her work on signatures of inflammation in the skin of patients with myositis and lupus.Outside of medicine, Dr. Madison enjoys spending time with her family including her partner, child, and dog. She loves traveling, running, dance, and enjoying the outdoors.

Dr. Turnier is a physician scientist and Clinical Lecturer in Pediatric Rheumatology at the University of Michigan. She received her MD degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2011. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Colorado, Children’s Hospital Colorado in 2014. She returned to the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and completed her Pediatric Rheumatology fellowship and training in clinical and translational research in 2017. Dr. Turnier joined the University of Michigan faculty in 2018. She cares for all children with rheumatologic diseases. Her research focuses on improving clinical care for children with myositis and lupus. Dr. Turnier is studying skin disease in myositis and lupus to identify novel disease mechanisms, biomarkers and treatment targets. She uses bioinformatic and translational science approaches to understand how we can develop precision medicine for myositis and lupus patient care and treatment. Dr. Turnier is also developing a multidisciplinary juvenile myositis clinic to increase access to state of the art clinical care and better integrate research with clinical care. Dr. J. Michelle Kahlenberg MD, PhD is a physician scientist and Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan. She completed her MD, PhD, and Internal Medicine training at Case Western Reserve University and completed her fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Michigan. She joined the University of Michigan faculty in 2011, was appointed Assistant Professor in 2012, and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2018. She has been running her own laboratory and has been an active member of the Immunology Training Program since 2013. Her clinical work is centered on the care of complicated lupus patients, including those with refractory skin disease. Her R01-funded research laboratory combines translational approaches using patient samples and murine models to uncover the mechanisms that drive lupus and lupus flares. In particular, she is focused on unraveling the pathogenic mechanisms in cutaneous lupus, the factors that drive photosensitivity, and how skin inflammation can influence systemic lupus activity. Her work has received institutional accolades and national recognition from the Arthritis National Research Foundation, The Rheumatology Research Foundation, American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Lupus Foundation of America. In her spare time, she enjoys organic gardening, working on the family farm EMMA Acres run by her husband, Mark, and spending time with her husband and children.
