Overview
When one of Kaly Tscherne’s children spent time in the hospital, she saw firsthand the incredible impact nurses can make on others. “Wow,” she remembers thinking. “These people are doing such an amazing job. I want to be a part of that.” When she was working as a nurse at AtlantiCare, she saw how the care team worked together to achieve positive outcomes and thought she could do more. Now, as an advanced practice nurse at AtlantiCare Physician Group Endocrinology she can do just that. Focusing on diabetes treatment, management and education, she works with patients so they can control their disease instead of their disease controlling them. “Diabetes care is so individualized. No two people will have the same treatment plan,” Tscherne says. “This makes it so important to build lasting relationships.” Originally from Ocean County, Tscherne earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Chamberlain University. Working as an APN, she is committed to giving patients tools they can use to control their diabetes. This begins with communication, a skill she developed working as a bedside nurse. Strong communication builds contributes to a strong relationship. Once that exists, she has a willing partner ready to collaborate on a plan of action. “I want to help patients understand their disease, and that starts by talking in terms they can understand,” she says. “When they understand what is going on, they can then understand why we are treating it the way we are.” She can think of no better place to care for patients than AtlantiCare, with its patient-centered philosophy. Philosophy of Care “My approach is about understanding the whole person in order to initiate positive changes to improve their quality of life.”.
Her clinical expertise encompasses Adrenal Insufficiency Pediatric.
Dr. Tscherne is board certified in American Academy Of Nurse Practitioners, Family Nurse Practitioner, 2021. Dr. Tscherne is currently accepting new patients.
