Dr. Edwin Kepner Silverman is chief of the Channing Division of Network Medicine and a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He is also a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.He received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary disease at BWH. He has served as a principal investigator of multiple COPD genetics studies funded by the National Institutes of Health, including the NETT Genetics Ancillary Study, the Transcontinental COPD Genetics Study, the Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Genetic Modifiers Study and the COPDGene Study. His research uses a variety of genetic analysis approaches to investigate the genetic influences of complex lung diseases, including integrative genomics, linkage analysis, familial aggregation analysis, rare variant analysis and epigenetic studies.
