After receiving his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV, Dr. Evans moved to Texas and served his internship and residency in internal medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He then served as chief of medicine at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital in Fort Polk, LA. In 2010-2011, Dr. Evans was deployed to Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain division and earned numerous commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal, for providing care under direct fire. Upon his return, Dr. Evans completed fellowship training in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple. Dr. Evans was honorably discharged from active military service in 2011 but remains a Major in the Army Inactive Ready Reserves.
