Overview
Matthew R. Evans, MD is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease. He specializes in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He then served as chief of medicine at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital in Fort Polk, LA. In 2010-2011, Dr. Evans was deployed to Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain division and earned numerous commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal, for providing care under direct fire. Upon his return, Dr. Evans completed fellowship training in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple. Dr. Evans was honorably discharged from active military service in 2011 but remains a Major in the Army Inactive Ready Reserves.
