Dr. Mayrim R. Perez

Dr. Mayrim Rios Perez earned her medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan. She completed an internship in general surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, a research fellowship in surgical oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, a residency in general surgery at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus in San Juan and a fellowship in general thoracic and foregut surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Board certified in surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Rios Perez is specially trained in thoracoscopy, laparoscopy, endoscopy and robotics, with additional training in thoracic and surgical oncology research. Her primary clinical interests include gallstones, appendicitis, appendix neoplasm, hiatal hernia, esophageal pathology, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, lipomas, soft tissue masses, umbilical hernia, lung nodules, breast cancer, traumatic rib fractures, traumatic sternal fractures, hemothorax, and pneumothorax. Her patients value her thorough and comprehensive evaluation and her experience in a wide spectrum of surgical procedures. Known for her compassion, Dr. Rios Perez strives to include the patient’s support system while caring for her patients. She also can converse with her patients in Spanish. Dr. Rios Perez is a member of the American Medical Association, American Association for Cancer Research, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Association for Thoracic Surgery and Society of Surgical Oncology. She lives in Spring Branch and is dedicated to improving the health of her community.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Retroperitoneal Inflammation, Cholecystitis, Gallbladder Disease, Choledocholithiasis, and Pancreaticoduodenectomy.

She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 8 peer reviewed articles.
