Dr. Matthew Kole is board certified in neurosurgery and earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, he completed a fellowship in combined open cerebrovascular/skull base surgery and endovascular training at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Kole specializes in neuroendovascular surgery. He treats a wide range of cervical and cerebral vascular conditions, including brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations of the brain, stroke, carotid and vertebral artery stenosis, spinal and intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulae, cavernous malformations of the brain and spine, intracerebral hemorrhage, moyamoya disease, intracranial atherosclerosis, idiopathic intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri) due to venous sinus stenosis, and vein of Galen malformation. Dr. Lekka, who has been in practice since 2002, sees patients ages 18 and older. She treats a wide range of conditions affecting the brain, spine, and blood vessels of the nervous system, including brain and spinal tumors, aneurysms, vascular malformations, hydrocephalus, pituitary tumors, and complex brain tumors involving speech, movement, vision, and sensation. She also speaks Italian and Greek fluently. She uses advanced surgical technologies, such as awake brain surgery with real-time brain mapping, minimally invasive laser treatments, endoscopic procedures and advanced imaging guidance, to improve safety during surgery and help achieve the best possible outcomes. Dr. Lekka’s approach to care involves meeting patients where they are and taking the time to explain diagnoses and treatment options in clear, understandable terms.
