Dr. Ryan J. Tedford

Dr. Daniel Judge is a professor of medicine in cardiology at MUSC. He received his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, and did his post-graduate training in internal medicine, cardiology, and advanced heart failure/transplant cardiology at Johns Hopkins. He is board-certified in both cardiology and advanced heart failure/transplant cardiology.Dr. Judge takes care of adult patients with inherited forms of cardiovascular disease, as well as congestive heart failure. As director of the cardiovascular genetics program, Dr. Judge has extensive experience caring for individuals and families with inherited forms of cardiomyopathy, aortic aneurysm, amyloidosis, and cardiac involvement from other genetic conditions.He has authored more than 150 scientific manuscripts. At MUSC Health, he is the Surgical Director of the Kidney Transplant Program and the Director of Hepatology, Nephrology, and Transplant ICCE Quality and Innovation.Dr. Scalea's research interests focus on improving outcomes and access to care for patients needing life-saving transplantation and researching strategies to achieve immune tolerance in allogeneic solid organ transplantation. He received international notoriety in 2019 for pioneering drones for organ transplants. As the inaugural Vice Chair of Surgery for Innovation, Dr. Scalea will expand his experience in clinical medicine, academic leadership, commercialization, and innovation to help translate innovative ideas from the laboratory to industry.Dr. Scalea received his medical degree and surgical training from the University of Maryland and completed his transplant fellowship at the University of Wisconsin and his post-doctoral fellowship at the Harvard Medical School, Transplantation Biology Research Center.When not in the clinic or laboratory, Dr. Scalea enjoys painting and performing music. Dr. Litwin is board-certified in general cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, and cardiovascular computed tomography (CT). He was recognized in 2014 in America's Top Doctors (Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.). He is a strong proponent of preventive cardiology and has a longstanding interest in weight loss as prevention and treatment for cardiovascular disease. He is an avid outdoorsman and exercise advocate who is passionate about caring for active adults who participate in sports or recreational exercise. Prior to coming to MUSC Health, Dr. Litwin was chief of the division of cardiology at Georgia Regents University from 2011 to 2014 and director of cardiac imaging at the University of Utah from 1993 to 2011. Dr. Litwin is involved in clinical trials using new therapies for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). He has published more than 100 scientific papers and serves on several editorial boards and national committees.Dr. Litwin's medical degree was awarded by Washington University School of Medicine. He completed a residency at the University of Arizona and completed a cardiology fellowship at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
