Dr. Valien M. Kondos

Dr. Valien Kondos is a pediatric hospitalist at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. She was chief during her Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency, and has been an adjunct professor of science, a presenter and lecturer. She is passionate about clinical education, social determinants of health and global health. Dr. Kondos is a member of numerous professional medical associations, including the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, the Medical Society of Delaware and the Society of Hospital Medicine. I became a doctor and treat kids because I wanted to make an impact on people’s lives in the most intimate way possible. I enjoy working with a highly impressionable population to help shape a healthier and stronger future. I’m passionate about teaching residents and medical students, not only about medical pathophysiology but also the art of medicine. I take pride in forming long-lasting relationships with my patients and educating them about their own health, to promote informed decision making. The transitional care population is one I especially enjoy working with, namely adolescent and young adults with chronic pediatric medical conditions. Lastly, I am interested in both the business of medicine and clinical leadership. On a daily basis, I try to do this through my teaching approach and fostering an individualized approach to patient care. On a larger scale, I am involved in system-wide quality improvement projects to evaluate and improve our processes to provide better patient care.
