
Overview
William S. Havron III, MD, FACS, joined Orlando Health's Department of Surgical Education as the director of surgical simulation and is now the program director of the general surgery residency. Dr. Havron currently serves as a surgeon for the Orlando Health Complex Hernia Center. He is board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care. Expert Surgical Care Dr. Havron is a skilled surgeon accomplished in both traditional surgical and minimally invasive procedures. His interests include complex general surgery, endocrine surgery, robotic surgery, laparoscopic surgery, abdominal wall reconstructions and hernias. His many areas of expertise ensure patients receive quality care throughout all stages of the surgical process, from preoperative testing to surgery and postoperative care. He also treats emergency and critically ill or injured patients and then continues to facilitate their care when they are moved to the critical care unit. Here he monitors the patient's condition and coordinates treatments and therapies among specialists and critical care staff with the goal of placing patients on the road to recovery. Dr. Havron's Training Dr. Havron earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Medicine in Memphis. He then completed his general surgery residency and surgical critical care fellowships at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. About Dr. Havron Prior to joining Orlando Health, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Oklahoma, Department of Medicine in Oklahoma City, where he was active in the training and mentoring of surgical residents and medical students. While there, Dr. Havron practiced emergency and elective general surgery, trauma and critical care. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Additionally, he is a certified course director for the Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma courses. Dr. Havron’s research has focused on trauma and acute care surgery as well as medical education. He is active in numerous surgical societies.
