Abhinav Humar, MD, is the clinical director of the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute and chief of UPMC Transplant Services. He received his medical degree from the University of Ottawa where he also completed his general surgical residency. He completed his surgical fellowship in transplantation at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Humar is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the International Liver Transplantation Society with more than 600 abstracts accepted at national and international transplant meetings and has co-authored more than 200 manuscripts, 30 book chapters and two books. George V. Mazariegos, MD, FACS, specializes in pediatric transplant surgery at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He and colleagues recently founded the Starzl Network for Excellence in Pediatric Transplantation, a learning health system focused on accelerating innovation and patient centered care in pediatric transplantation.
