Dr. Sam A. Buffer
Overview
Sam A. Buffer, Jr., MD, is a cardiologist and is certified in cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is vice-chairman of the Cardiovascular Department at UPMC Passavant and is an assistant professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease at the University of Pennsylvania Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Buffer joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 1995. His clinical interests include clinical cardiology and cardiac imaging. Dr. Buffer has published research about cardiac imaging and clinical cardiology and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. He is a past recipient of the Excellence in Patient Experience Award.
