Overview
Dr. Flyer has been practicing cardiology since 1997. He specializes in interventional cardiology, the branch of cardiology that uses catheter-based technology to treat heart disorders. Dr.Flyer also practices general cardiology, and has expertise in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at George Washington University School of Medicine, teaching medical students cardiology. In 2008, Dr. Flyer began serving as the Vice Chairman of the American Heart Association Gala Committee. That passion led to his pursuit of a medical degree, which he earned from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.As an Interventional Radiologist (IR), he performs minimally invasive surgeries and diagnoses conditions through medical imaging. “It keeps us on our toes,” he said about the daily work of IRs. “We can treat varicose veins, uterine fibroids, aid in cancer diagnosis and perform cancer treatments all in the same day.”In his free time, Dr. Doherty enjoys traveling and perfecting his grilling and smoking techniques on his Big Green Egg.
