Dr. Tarek Alsaied

Laura Jean Olivieri, MD, is a board-certified Pediatric Cardiologist and the Director of Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging at Children's Hospital Pittsburgh, and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at University of Pittsburgh. She graduated from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Brown University in Providence, RI, where she also was invited to stay for a chief year. She completed her training in pediatric cardiology at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC following by a year in advanced cardiac imaging at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute specializing in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging. She is expert in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac MRI and cardiac CT. She is also considered a leader in the field of 3-dimensional reconstruction of congenital heart defects from 3D imaging, and in adapting MRI methods to babies and children. She is most interested in improving image acquisition using MRI and echocardiographic in 3D printing of heart models and has compiled a successful grant portfolio to that end. She also serves as Principal Investigator for an R01 to investigate application of cardiac MRI and Interventional Cardiac Magnetic Resonance on the care of pediatric heart transplant patients. This is a 4.5 million dollar, 5-year contract aimed at using CMR to guide interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, using less sedation for diagnostic CMR procedures and to advance diagnostic CMR capabilities to use less invasive testing. Arvind Hoskoppal, MD, MHS, is an adult congenital and pediatric cardiologist and is certified in adult congenital cardiology, pediatric cardiology, pediatrics, and internal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is the director of the UPMC Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program and is an associate professor of internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from M.S. Ramaiah Medical College and completed his residency at Creighton University, pediatric cardiology fellowship at University of California, San Francisco, and adult congenital heart disease fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Hoskoppal joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 2019. His clinical interests are adult congenital heart disease, pregnancy and heart disease, aortopathy, and advanced echocardiography, including transesophageal echocardiography. Dr. Hoskoppal has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, Adult Congenital Heart Association and the International Society of Adult Congenital Heart Disease. When not at work Dr. Hoskoppal enjoys playing tennis, running, traveling, trying exotic cuisines and riding his bike. He recently moved to Pittsburgh with his wife and two young kids. Craig P. Dobson, MD, is a pediatric cardiologist and is certified in pediatric cardiology and pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is clinical director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Heart Institute at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Dobson received his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine, and then completed a residency in pediatrics at then Walter Reed Army Medical Center (now Walter Reed National Military Medical Center) followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Dobson’s clinical interests include acquired cardiac conditions in children. He has published several peer reviewed manuscripts on topics pertaining to pediatric cardiology and has received several awards for his service as a physician and in the military, including the Order of Military Medical Merit in 2018 and the Master Clinician Award in 2020. At UPMC Children’s, Dr. Dobson will direct Cardiology Clinical Operations, working directly with the Heart Institute, the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, and hospital leadership to support program development and strengthen existing services.
