
Overview
Vikesh Singh is a gastroenterologist who specializes in pancreatology and pancreaticobiliary endoscopy. He evaluates and treats patients with inflammatory diseases of the pancreas, including acute and chronic pancreatitis and autoimmune pancreatitis as well as the complications of these diseases. After earning his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Singh remained at Johns Hopkins to complete residency training in internal medicine. He pursued fellowship training in gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and earned a master’s degree in epidemiology from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. He then returned to Johns Hopkins, where he completed a two-year advanced endoscopy fellowship with a focus on pancreaticobiliary endoscopy. Dr. Singh has been on the faculty at Johns Hopkins since 2008, and rose to the rank of professor in 2021. His research interests include acute and chronic pancreatitis, autoimmune pancreatitis, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, and novel methods to evaluate and treat abdominal pain. Dr. Singh is a member of the board of directors of the National Pancreas Foundation, chair of the Pancreatic Disorders Section of the American Gastroenterological Association, a councilor for the International Association of Pancreatology and a member of the inaugural medical advisory board for the Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome Foundation.

Dr. Michael G. Goggins is a professor of pathology, medicine and oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He serves as director of the Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection Laboratory and is an attending physician in medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is the Sol Goldman Professor of Pancreatic Cancer Research. Dr. Goggins’ research interests include developing tests to improve the early detection in pancreas cancer, evaluating outcomes of pancreatic surveillance and identifying gene variants responsible for inherited susceptibility to pancreatic cancer. He obtained his medical degree in 1988 from Trinity College of the University of Dublin, Ireland. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at St. James' Hospital in Dublin. He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1991 and his European Diploma in Gastroenterology in 1995. He joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1999. Marcia (Mimi) Canto, M.D., M.H.S. is a Professor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is also the Director of Endoscopy at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Canto received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Philippines in Manila in 1981 (summa cum laude). She received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1985 from the University of the Philippines and completed her training in Internal Medicine from State University of New York Sciences Center in Brooklyn, Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Canto came back to Johns Hopkins after spending three years at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio for advanced endoscopic training. Her primary clinical interests include endoscopy, particularly the use of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in detecting early pancreatic cancer and its precursors. She has recently shown that endoscopic ultrasound can be used to detect asymptomatic precancerous lesions in patients with a family history of pancreatic cancer.
