Dr. Bernardo De La Guardia

Bernardo de la Guardia, MD, F.A.C.C. was born in Queretaro, Mexico. He obtained his Medical Degree from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), ranking second among the class of 1991. He dedicated one year to research at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and then continued with Internal Medicine Residency training at the University of Arizona in Tucson where he spent an extra year as Chief Medical Resident. Dr. de la Guardia's cardiology training continued at the University of Texas-Medical School at Houston/Hermann Hospital where he completed three years of Cardiovascular Medicine and a dedicated year to Interventional Cardiology. Dr. de la Guardia is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine with certification by the same board in the areas of Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology. He has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Some of Dr. de la Guardia's professional appointments include serving as Medical Director for the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and as Medical Director for Cardiovascular Services at the Memorial-Hermann Hospital at The Woodlands, Texas. He has functioned also as Chairman for the Cardiology Department at the same institution. Dr. de la Guardia's clinical interests in general cardiology include transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography and stress testing including the use of radio-isotopes (nuclear stress testing). His invasive skills include coronary and peripheral diagnostic angiography, and he is experienced in catheter-based interventions (angioplasties and stents), as well as in pacemaker implantations.
