Dr. Aaron U. Blackham

Lawrence Harrison, MD, is chief of Atlantic Surgical Oncology, which provides expert care across a broad spectrum of cancers, focusing on hepatobiliary, pancreatic, colorectal, gastroesophageal, skin and soft tissue cancers. As fellowship-trained surgical oncologists, Dr. Harrison and his partners provide patients with the latest in surgical innovations and clinical research options. Atlantic Surgical Oncology works closely with medical oncology, radiation oncology and other specialists in a multidisciplinary fashion on two campuses of the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Medical Center and at Overlook Medical Center in Summit. Dr. Harrison has been a surgical innovator since finishing fellowship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He has extensive training in novel surgical techniques, including in hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), which is a highly concentrated, heated chemotherapy treatment delivered directly to the abdomen during surgery. Prior to joining Atlantic Surgical Oncology, Dr. Harrison served as director of surgical oncology at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood where he developed expertise in robotic surgery, performing more than 200 complex robotic surgical procedures. He also was director of the Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgical Fellowship. Previously, Dr. Harrison was associate professor of surgery and chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at University Hospital in Newark for 12 years. In addition to his clinical practice, he was involved in research and taught medical residents and students. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Harrison sees patients at Morristown and Overlook medicals centers, and provides consultative services to Newton, Chilton and Hackettstown medical centers. I’m a long-time donor to Semper Fi, a group that gives financial assistance and support to post-9/11 injured veterans and their families. I feel strongly about supporting our military service members who sacrifice so much to protect us. I’m also an enthusiastic backer of Yellowstone National Park. I went there as a kid and later took my own kids when they were young. I’ve always been in awe of Yellowstone’s majesty and beauty. | Personal interests | I enjoy spending time with my girls (my wife and three daughters) and my boys (my two dogs).
