Overview

Dr. Anne Marie Valente is the co-director of the Pregnancy and Cardiovascular Disease Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and outpatient director of the Boston Adult Congenital Heart Disease & Pulmonary Hypertension Program. A cardiovascular medicine and adult congenital heart disease specialist, she is also an associate professor of medicine and pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Valente is the director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension Senior Fellowship Program at Harvard Medical School.She received her medical degree from University of Vermont College of Medicine. She completed a combined internal medicine/pediatrics residency, as well as pediatric cardiology, adult cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging fellowships at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Valente is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, cardiovascular disease and pediatric cardiology.Dr. Valente’s clinical and research interests focus on adult congenital heart disease. Her current research examines heart failure complications in patients with repaired tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, as well as numerous chapters and reviews about congenital heart disease imaging and the care of women with heart disease during pregnancy. She has received institutional recognition with the Lerner Research Award and the Watkins Discovery Award as well as research funding from the American Heart Association, the Children’s Miracle Network and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.**The BACH program has been training clinicians in the care of adults with congenital heart disease for several decades.  For more information about the Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension Senior Fellowship Program at Harvard Medical School, please visit the program website.**The BACH program is closely integrated in the Pregnancy and Cardiovascular Disease Program.  This program involves a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to caring for women with heart disease during pregnancy.
