Dr. Amber L. Flaherty

Dr. Ortiz Cruz joined Ironwood Cancer & Research Center in September 2014, after completing her hematology and medical oncology fellowship at the University of South Carolina in Charleston. She completed two years of research at the National Cancer Institute | National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland where she was involved with clinical research in radiation oncology in addition to work with medical oncology. Dr. Ortiz Cruz also completed an internal medicineresidency training program at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix. She has published several articles in scientific journals and presented at various meetings. Dr. Cruz's specializes in solid tumor and hematologic disorders with a special interest in breast, colon cancer and lymphoma. Dr. Kalmadi joined Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers in 2008 and serves as Chief Medical Officer.  After finishing his medical schooling in India, Dr. Sujith Kalmadi completed his residency training and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He then served as academic clinical faculty at the Cleveland Clinic School of Medicine (Lerner School) in Cleveland, Ohio and subsequently at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During his tenure at these prestigious institutions, he pioneered several novel clinical research trials which have been lauded at national scientific meetings and published in peer reviewed journals. His areas of clinical and research interests include several solid tumors and hematological disorders. He currently resides in Chandler with his wife and three children, and enjoys tennis, chess and racquetball during his spare time. Dr. Sumeet Mendonca joined Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in January 2012. On completion of her training in Hematology/Medical Oncology at St Elizabeth Medical Center, Tufts University, Boston, Dr. Sumeet Kumar Mendonca joined Desert Oncology Associates in 2008, now part of Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers. Being part of an expatriate family she received a global educational imprint in places like India, Singapore and Nigeria. On completion of Medical School in MGM, Mumbai University, India she dedicated two years to research in the field of Cancer Immunotherapy at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Her work was very well received and resulted in a number of publications in several peer reviewed journals. Dr Mendonca is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and treats all forms of adult cancers with a key interest in solid tumors, including breast cancer. She has been a prominent advocate for the promotion of women's health, focusing on prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Dr. Mendonca's special interests are in delivering individualized care in a comprehensive and compassionate manner.
