He has also served the national study chair for clinical trials that give patients access to new medications and that provide new approaches of administering existing medications to improve their efficacy. Algazi earned his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed a residency in internal medicine at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in hematology-oncology at UCSF. Algazi is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Society for Immunotherapy for Cancer and American Association for Cancer Research.
