
Overview
Dr. Alice Maxfield is a sinus and endoscopic skull base surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute; and an Instructor of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School. She is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Her advanced expertise is in the evaluation and treatment of patients with sinonasal disorders, including recurrent and chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, nasal obstruction, deviated nasal septum, nasal masses, and tumors of the sinuses, nose, and skull base. Dr. Maxfield provides patients with up-to-date care of their sinonasal disease with comprehensive medical management, as well as surgical options, including endoscopic sinus surgery. She works closely with physicians in related fields, such as allergy and immunology, pulmonology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, and oncology to provide multidisciplinary care. Dr. Maxfield received her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and completed her residency in Otolaryngology at Albany Medical Center. She subsequently obtained advanced specialized training through fellowship in Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery at Mass Eye and Ear and Massachusetts General Hospital. Her research focuses on improving outcomes of sinonasal surgery, sinonasal polyp disease, and endoscopic approaches to orbital and sinonasal disease. She is also the BWH Residency Site Director of the Harvard Otolaryngology Residency Program with focuses in resident education and wellness.Dr. Maxfield is also a contributing author for Harvard Health Publishing. She is currently accepting patients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Brigham-Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain, and the BWH-MGH Health Care Center in Foxborough at Gillette Stadium.
