Overview
Dr. Bhalla is a spine-fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in treatment of the neck, back, and spinal column. After pursuing his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, he returned to Los Angeles to attend medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Subsequently he completed residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.Dr. Bhalla spent an additional year of fellowship training and research in the subspecialty of Spine Surgery at the Harvard Combined Spine Fellowship at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. In Boston, he developed his interests in degenerative conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, adult deformity surgery, motion-preserving techniques, and minimally invasive approaches.In collaboration with physicians at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center and the Cancer Center at Massachusetts General Hospital, it was his privilege to help care for patients with primary and metastatic tumors of the spinal column. He is fortunate to be mentored by leading academic spine surgeons, and believes strongly in evidence-based, patient-centered, and outcomes-driven care.Dr. Bhalla practices in Long Beach with the Memorial Orthopaedic Surgical Group. He is also on faculty at Harbor-UCLA Medical center and is an Clinical Instructor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He serves as the Director of Spine Trauma for the department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a level-1 trauma center serving Los Angeles County.As part of an ongoing commitment to improving patient care and scientific research, Dr. Bhalla has the privilege of serving as a peer reviewer for the prestigious Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and for The Spine Journal.
