I enjoy working as an infectious diseases specialist because it allows me to help patients when they’re critically ill and see them recover. I find it rewarding to intervene in severe cases and take satisfaction in being able to cure infections and improve patients’ outcomes.My philosophy of care is patientcentered and built on honesty and trust. I believe in empowering patients with clear information so they can make informed decisions. When treatment decisions are uncertain, I take time to discuss all options so patients can decide what feels best for them.I chose to pursue a career in infectious diseases during my residency when I cared for AIDS patients and wanted more knowledge to help them. I enjoy the variety of the field, working with many types of doctors, solving tough medical puzzles and treating various bacterial, viral and fungal infections, including drugresistant infections. It’s important to prevent the spread of infections while ensuring antimicrobial agents are used judiciously to discourage the development of drugresistant bacteria.
