Born and raised in Illinois, Dr. McDermott ventured out east to complete her medical training at Penn State College of Medicine and also earned her Master's degree in Education. She subsequently completed dual residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Michigan where she also served as Chief Resident.Dr. McDermott is acutely aware of the emotional toll hospitalization can take on patients and their families.
