
Overview
Before attending medical school, Charles L. Yen, MD, earned a Bachelor of Science with honors in electrical engineering from The University of Texas and worked at Baylor College of Medicine, in the Department of Orthopedics writing software programs. In pursuit of his medical career, Dr. Yen received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine. He went on to train in the hematology and medical oncology fellowship program at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Board certified in hematology and medical oncology, Dr. Yen specializes in myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS or preleukemia). His other major interests include the treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) cancer hereditary coagulopathy (bleeding disorder), lung cancer, lymphoma (lymphatic cancer), multiple myeloma (Kahler’s disease) and non-malignant blood disorders. In addition to these conditions, he treats anal cancer, anemia, bladder cancer, brain cancer, breast cancer, colon (colorectal) cancer, head and neck cancer and rectal cancer. Dr. Yen also can conduct biopsies, bone marrow aspirations and chemotherapy. Patients and their families are comforted by Dr. Yen’s attentiveness and compassion. He cares for patients living in Conroe, Cypress, Houston, Hufsmith, Humble, Magnolia, North Houston, Spring and Tomball/ Dr. Yen is a member of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), the Harris County Medical Society (HCMS) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). When he is away from his patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
