Overview

James Stuart Ferriss is an associate professor in the Johns Hopkins Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics and director of the F.J. Montz Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program. He is an expert in the care of women with cancers of the uterus, cervix, vulva, vagina, fallopian tubes and ovaries. Dr. Ferriss is passionate about minimally invasive approaches to surgery and has extensive experience with robotic surgery. Dr. Ferriss received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University. He then completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Virginia. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Ferriss was associate professor in the departments of women’s health and oncology at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. Before that, he was assistant professor in the department of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at Temple University in Philadelphia. Dr. Ferriss’ research is focused on innovations in surgical and clinical education. Dr. Ferriss serves on a variety of boards and is a member of the Society of Gyneocologic Oncology, Mid-Atlantic Gynecologic Oncology Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Surgeons and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has been recognized with several awards and honors, including being named a top doctor for outstanding patient care. Dr. Ferriss’ passion for getting to know each of his patients’ values and personal treatment goals and empowering them to be active participants in their treatment defines his approach to patient care. Stuart Grossman, M.D., is a professor of oncology at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.
