Dr. Jason Chan

Dr. Jason Chan is a radiation oncologist who specializes in treating head and neck cancers as well as thoracic cancer (cancers of the chest, including lung cancer). Chan has expertise in the full range of modern radiation therapy techniques, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (which delivers precise radiation doses to a tumor or specific areas within the tumor), stereotactic radiotherapy (which uses particularly precise radiation doses and calls for fewer doses than traditional therapy), intraoperative radiotherapy (delivery of a large dose during surgery) and brachytherapy (in which a radiation source is placed inside the body). Chan earned his medical degree at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He completed a residency in radiation oncology at UCSF, serving as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in head and neck cancer at UCSF.
