Dr. Sue Yom

Dr. David Raleigh is a radiation oncologist who specializes in brain tumors. He cares for both adult and pediatric patients. Raleigh's research focuses on understanding the biological processes that cause brain tumors to grow. His goals are to uncover new measures of brain cancer and to identify cells for drugs to target. Raleigh earned a bachelor's degree in molecular and cell biology as well as a bachelor's degree in cognitive science from the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his doctoral degree in molecular pathogenesis – how disease develops at the molecular level – from the University of Chicago, followed by his medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. He completed a residency in radiation oncology at UCSF. Raleigh is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society for Radiation Oncology, Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium, Children's Oncology Group, Society for Neuro-Oncology, International Meningioma Society and North American Skull Base Society. Dr. Patrick Ha is chief of the UCSF Division of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology. His expertise in patient care covers the full scope of head and neck surgery, with a focus on thyroid and parathyroid surgery as well as endoscopic approaches to throat cancer surgery. Ha's research is currently focused on molecular changes that occur in adenoid cystic carcinoma of the salivary gland. Ha received an undergraduate degree in biology from Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude. He obtained his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, graduating with membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed his residency training and a postdoctoral fellowship at the otolaryngology department of Johns Hopkins, along with advanced fellowship training in head and neck oncologic surgery. Ha serves on the editorial board of several medical journals, including Oral Oncology. He is the Irwin Mark Jacobs and Joan Klein Jacobs Distinguished Professor in Head and Neck Cancer. Dr. Alain Algazi is a specialist in medical treatment – such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy – for patients with head and neck cancers, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, thyroid cancers and salivary gland cancers. He leads UCSF's program in medical therapy for head and neck cancers, and chairs the head and neck cancer research committee. In research, Algazi conducts clinical trials – studies that evaluate new therapies for head and neck cancers with an emphasis on approaches to improving the chances of long term remission in patients with incurable cancer using immunotherapy. He has also served the national study chair for clinical trials that give patients access to new medications and that provide new approaches of administering existing medications to improve their efficacy. Algazi earned his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed a residency in internal medicine at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in hematology-oncology at UCSF. Algazi is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Society for Immunotherapy for Cancer and American Association for Cancer Research.
