A native Texan, Dr. John A. “Tony” Primomo was born in San Antonio, Texas, and attended The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine before completing his residency at the University of Rochester in New York, where he received numerous teaching awards. In his fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Dr. Primomo focused on minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. A member of The Memorial Hermann Surgical Specialists & Weight Loss Solutions, Dr. Primomo has acquired fellowship training in advanced laparoscopic techniques, including treatment for reflux disease as well as minimally invasive treatments for hernias and endocrine and hematologic disorders. After three decorated tours of service, he found his home in Houston where he earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2003. He stayed at the university to complete his surgical residency training in 2008 and then completed advanced training with a fellowship of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Wilson joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2009 where he practices surgery that embraces state of the art techniques to proved patients with optimal surgical results with the least impact on the patient. At the medical school, he serves as the Medical Director of Surgical Training and part of the Elective General Surgery team. He is active academically with membership in several medical societies and has received academic recognition and published or presented articles. Erik B. Wilson, MD, is Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and the Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgeons of Texas (MIST). He is the Division Chief of Elective General Surgery for the UT Department of Surgery. He is a founder and the Past President of the Clinical Robotic Surgery Association. He is a leader in endoluminal and robotic General Surgery since 2002 with over 1000 cases performed robotically.
