Overview
Dr. Lowell Lo is a nephrologist (kidney disease specialist) who cares for patients with electrolyte and acid-base disorders (imbalances in mineral or acidity levels in the blood). He serves as practice chief for UCSF's in-clinic kidney service and as medical director of the dialysis center on the Mount Zion campus. A member of the American Society of Nephrology (ASN), Lo was a finalist in the 2016 ASN Innovations in Kidney Education Contest. His dedication to medical education and quality improvement has been recognized through numerous honors, including the UCSF Innovations Funding in Education Award, Outstanding Electronic Consultation Award (recognizing his provision of high-quality guidance to other doctors on kidney issues), Henry J. Kaiser Award for Excellence in Teaching, recognition as a master clinician by the UCSF Department of Medicine, and UCSF Health Exceptional Physician Award.
