Overview
Dr. Patrick H. Kee received his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Science, and doctor degree from the University of Adelaide Medical School (UAMS) in Adelaide, Australia. He completed clinical training in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine with UAMS at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Adelaide. Under the mentorship of professor Philip Barter (previous director of the Heart Research Institute in Sydney, Australia), he earned his Doctor of Philosophy for extensive lipid metabolism training. Dr. Kee then received advanced training in echocardiography at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and post-doctoral training in molecular imaging at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and CT coronary angiography, Dr. Kee specializes in lipid management and non-invasive imaging of structural heart disease and coronary artery disease. His research interests include animal models of atherosclerosis, imaging contrast design, lipoprotein metabolism, molecular imaging of atherosclerosis and vulnerable plaque pathology. He focuses on developing a better understanding of lipid disorders and atherosclerosis as well as the development of novel contrast agents for non-invasive detection of the vulnerable plaques. Dr. Kee is an associate professor of the Department of Internal Medicine and the lead scientist at the Advanced Diagnostic and Experimental Therapeutic Laboratory at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston. An investigator funded by the National Institutes of Health and American Heart Association, Dr. Kee has been honored with the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award and the Division of Cardiology Special Teaching Award on Echocardiography. In addition, he received two Young Investigator Awards in Australia and a Scientist Development Grant from the American Heart Association.
