Seema Qayum, MD practices pulmonary and critical care medicine at Ochsner Health. She received her undergraduate degree in from Tulane University, during which she was named a Creative Scholar and granted early acceptance into medical school. She completed her medical degree and internal medicine residency at Tulane School of Medicine. Due to commitment to medical education and patient care, she was elected by her peers to serve as chief resident. She continued her medical training in New York City, completing her pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at Columbia University. Working at one of the largest transplant centers in the country and in a bustling ICU during the peak of the COVID pandemic, her passion for pulmonary and transplant medicine was born. She worked several years in New York City, but her love of her hometown brought her back to New Orleans. She has extended training and knowledge in interstitial lung diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, and lung transplantation. She is boarded in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine.Outside of work, she enjoys live music, attending the ballet and new art exhibits, cycling, and spending time with her husband, family, and the love of her life— her 70 lb goldendoodle.
