Working at one of the largest transplant centers in the country and in a bustling ICU during the peak of the COVID pandemic, her passion for pulmonary and transplant medicine was born. She worked several years in New York City, but her love of her hometown brought her back to New Orleans. She is excited to ask you, “What high school did you go to?” and run into her patients on the parade route.Dr. Qayum brings with her a wealth knowledge including expertise in COPD/emphysema, bronchitis, asthma, bronchiolitis, inflammatory pneumonias/pneumonitis, pulmonary nodules, pleural “lung lining” pathology, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis. She has extended training and knowledge in interstitial lung diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, and lung transplantation. She is boarded in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine.Outside of work, she enjoys live music, attending the ballet and new art exhibits, cycling, and spending time with her husband, family, and the love of her life— her 70 lb goldendoodle.
