Kenneth always wanted to be a nurse practitioner because of the unique opportunity to develop patient rapport and assist the patient with developing healthy lifestyle habits. He worked in medical-surgical nursing for two years and taught undergraduate nurses. Pediatrics was my favorite clinical class in graduate school.Kenneth first encountered pediatric nursing when shadowing his mother, a pediatric registered nurse, back 2014, and it quickly became his favorite clinical class in graduate school. He is extremely excited to work with the pediatric population as a provider, to have the opportunity to create healthy habits early, and watch as his patients and their families grow and develop.Kenneth is married and a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago White Sox, and continues to play soccer and softball in the summer with friends. He has four cats: Marnie, Francine, Dalia, and Queen.

Shawn spent 12 years in several different nursing positions from floor nursing in the hospital, home and acute dialysis to adolescent behavioral health. For the majority of her 27-year nursing career in Northwest Indiana, Catherine served as a medical-surgical nurse. While considering graduate school, she worked for a busy family practice clinic where one of her duties involved facilitating behavioral health visits/referrals. That proved to be very difficult and it was this experience that helped her to decide to make behavioral health her graduate degree focus.During graduate school, Catherine left her long-time place of employment to gain some focused behavioral health experience in a recovery center, and knew immediately she had made the best decision! She is looking forward to many years in this role and doing her part to help fill the provider gaps that exist in the field.Catherine met her husband, Kenny in high school and they have been married for 27 years. They have three grown, amazing children. They enjoy caring for their home, parrots, two boxers, and poodle. They also enjoy concerts, walks/hikes with their dogs, and plan to begin camping and traveling more often.

Sara has always loved nursing as it has allowed her to provide care and compassion to those who need it during times of physical, mental, or emotional distress. She became a nurse practitioner, as she wanted to provide holistic care – especially to those in underserved populations. The best part of being a nurse practitioner is having the opportunity to enhance the lives of others.
