Dr. Kai Bickenbach provides cancer patients with exceptional surgical care at Atlantic Surgical Oncology. His areas of specialty include melanoma, sarcoma, pancreatic cancer, liver and biliary cancer, esophageal and gastric cancer and colorectal cancer. He is trained in the use of many novel therapies, including the NanoKnife® to treat un-resectable pancreatic and liver tumors, as well as hepatic arterial infusion pumps. Dr. Bickenbach and his partners are fellowship trained surgical oncologists providing patients the latest in surgical innovation and clinical research options. Atlantic Surgical Oncology Associates work closely with medical oncology, radiation oncology and other specialists in a multidisciplinary fashion on two campuses of the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center in Summit. Dr. Bickenbach is a member of a variety of medical organizations including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Americas Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Association, and is a councilman for the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He is widely published and has presented at national meetings on cancer related topics.After graduating from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2002, Dr. Bickenbach completed his surgical residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center in 2009, where he was elected administrative chief resident. During that time, Dr. Bickenbach completed a two-year research fellowship, focusing on the use of oncolytic viruses in the treatment of cancer. Following residency, Dr. Bickenbach completed a fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He sees patients at Morristown, Overlook, Newton, Chilton and Hackettstown medical centers. He is affiliated with Atlantic Medical Group, and is a participating provider of Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
