He is board-certified in cardiovascular disease.Dr. Ard has twelve years of experience in invasive cardiology, performing diagnostic left and right heart catheterization, permanent pacemaker implantations, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, and nuclear cardiovascular studies. He was also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Campbell University School of Medicine. Dr. Ard spent time as a Battalion Surgeon under the US Army Special Forces command, serving both at home and overseas.Dr. Ard completed extensive research on the CLOSURE 1 Trial: “a prospective, multicenter, randomized, controlled trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the STARFlex septal closure system” and The PROTECT AF (Watchman Left Atrial Appendage System for Embolic Protection in patients with Atrial Fibrillation) trial, among others.
