Dr. Omer J. Riaz
Overview
Omer J. Riaz, MD, FACS, RPVI, is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Board-certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery, he specializes in angioplasty, peripheral vascular disease, varicose veins, vascular disease, endovascular surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and aortic aneurysm. Dr. Riaz is also certified as a registered physician in vascular interpretation (RPVI), which documents the highest standard in vascular ultrasound interpretation.With more than 10 years of experience in vascular surgery, Dr. Riaz also has significant clinical research trial experience as a co-investigator for several studies examining the safety and effectiveness of a wide variety of advanced aortic, carotid and thoracic stents and vascular graft systems. He has been published in peer-reviewed surgical journals and presented at national conferences.After earning his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, Richmond, VA, Dr. Riaz performed a research fellowship in trauma surgery and his residency in general surgery at the same facility, where he was named administrative chief resident and received the Isaac Bigger Award for Most Outstanding Chief Resident. While he was a surgical resident, he also was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the U.S. Army Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center. He then completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City.Dr. Riaz is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery. He is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
