Dr. Pereira received his medical degree from the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. He completed his internal medicine internship, residency and a fellowship in cardiology at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and its subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease, the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners as a cardiac rhythm device specialist. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the Society of Air Force Physicians, and American College of Physicians. He has written two books and in his spare time, Dr. Gibson enjoys travel, golf and fly fishing. Additionally, he loves fine wines. Having spent his childhood in the foothills of the Appalachians, Dr. Gibson's move to Blairsville represents something of a return to his roots.
