He also maintains a thriving practice evaluating structural heart disease in both symptomatic and asymptomatic athletes using cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, stress testing, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI.Throughout his internship, residency and fellowship training at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Dr. Martinez was recognized with multiple honors including chief cardiology fellow, and clinical associate professorships. He received an American College of Cardiology Emerging Faculty Award, has led many educational events nationally and internationally on various cardiovascular topics, and regularly presents on sudden cardiac arrest at national meetings. He previously served as chair of the American College of Cardiology’s Sports and Exercise Section.
