I offer the guidance I would want if I were making that decision for my family.” Always interested in science and guided by a deep desire to help others, Steixner earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, and completed residencies in general surgery and urology at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Steixner is certified by the American Board of Urology. At AtlantiCare Physician Group Urology, Steixner treats urologic conditions routine and complex. Whether patients are struggling with kidney stones or a new cancer diagnosis, Steixner’s approach is to collaborate with each patient to create a personalized care plan. “People who are informed and understand their condition as well as the options in front of them, and have the support of family and friends, I think they do better,” he says. “If they feel supported and informed they make a better decision and have a better outcome.” To achieve this, Steixner believes in working together to understand not only what is causing patients pain and discomfort but also what their goal is. Often, that involves education and treatment designed to help patients take control of their health. “There are options available,” he says. “And they can improve a patient’s quality of life as they move into their 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond.” Philosophy of Care “Medicine gives me the opportunity to be personally involved in individual lives and to help people make informed decisions about what’s best for their bodies.” Personal Interests An avid skier and marathon runner, Steixner’s hobbies include cooking, music and Philadelphia sports.
