
Overview
Dr. Veenstra earned her medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and completed Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Michigan, where she also served as Chief Medical Resident. She completed her Medical Oncology fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania, during which time she also earned a Masters in Health Policy Research. She joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 2013.Dr. Veenstra’s research program focuses on the financial impacts of cancer diagnosis and treatment on patients and their families, the role of family in receipt of optimal cancer care, and issues facing cancer survivors. She currently holds a K07 Award from the National Cancer Institute to study the role of an engaged spouse or significant other in receipt of high quality surveillance care among survivors of colorectal cancer.

Dr. Francis Worden received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1993. Prior to attending medical school, he worked as a registered pharmacist at a large community hospital in Indianapolis. In 1997, Dr. Worden completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the Detroit Medical Center and finished a medical oncology/hematology fellowship at the University of Michigan. In July 2000, Dr. Worden joined the faculty at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, where he is currently working as a clinical investigator with both the multidisciplinary head and neck oncology team and the multidisciplinary lung cancer team. Dr. Worden's research interests include organ preservation in head and neck cancer and endocrine oncology. He is the Nancy Wigginton Oncology Research Professor of Thyroid Cancer. Dr. Vaishampayan attended Wayne State University for her residency and fellowship completion and attended medical school at Byramjee Jeejeebhoy in Pune, India and completed a higher secondary certificate in the field of science at Fergusson College in Pune, India.In her free time, Dr. Vaishampayan enjoys reading, dance, music and travel.
