"""Dr. Thoreson attended medical school at the University of Texas School of Medicine in San Antonio, TX. Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Thoreson worked at Pfizer's Global Research and Development headquarters, later completing an American Heart Association research fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine while in medical school. Dr. Thoreson trained in the Urology residency program at UT Southwestern Medical School and has performed hundreds of robotic and reconstructive surgical procedures. He currently holds a faculty appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. In addition to general urology, he has a clinical interest in urological oncology, reconstructive urologic surgery, kidney stone treatment and prevention, voiding dysfunction and infertility. Under his leadership, the Department has consistently been named among the nation's best by U.S. News & World Report.Dr. Roehrborn's practice focuses on the treatment of prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Over the past several years, he has performed more than 1,200 robotic prostatectomies for prostate cancer and more than 800 laser prostatectomies for BPH, making him one of the country's most experienced surgeons in the use of robotic procedures for urologic conditions. In addition, he is involved in virtually all aspects of BPH research as well as translational and clinical research in prostatitis and prostate cancer.Born and raised in the former West Germany, Dr. Roehrborn earned his medical degree from Justus Liebig University in Giessen and began his residency in surgery and urology at the German Army Hospital there.
