Overview
John Cherry, DO, first became interested in medicine at a young age by observing his father's medical practice. Dr. Cherry was intrigued by the science of physiology and pathology. He carries that same passion and intrigue today, connecting with patients and treating them as he would his own family. Dr. Cherry enjoys building relationships with his patients and collaborating on their health decisions. He connects with SSM Health's Mission of providing exceptional care through God's healing presence. Dr. Cherry graduated with a bachelor's degree in science from the University of Oklahoma before earning a medical degree from Oklahoma State University - College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa. Dr. Cherry then finished an obstetrics & gynecology residency at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City and served as Chief Resident during his program. He has been published several times for his human dissection studies. Dr. Cherry has provided care to women in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area for almost two decades. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Cherry is excited to return home to SSM Health. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Cherry is interested in helping women with minimally invasive gynecological surgery, as well as plant-based nutrition and weight loss advice. During his undergraduate at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Cherry was a member of 'The Pride of Oklahoma' marching band. Dr. Cherry has been married for over two decades and together they have three sons and two dogs. He enjoys visiting national parks with his family.
