Overview
In the outpatient clinic, I see a wide variety of pulmonary patients. I have a special interest in asthma and COPD. I also see patients with sleep disorders, particularly sleep apnea. In the inpatient setting, I see patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) as well as other areas of the hospital. I have a previous research interest in mechanical ventilation and am the medical director of the ICU. In the ICU, we have an ongoing commitment to quality and improving the patient and family experience. I’ve also had a longstanding interest in medical education. I currently help teach second year medical students at the University of Minnesota and train both critical care fellows from Hennepin County Medical Center and pulmonary and critical care fellows from the University of Minnesota. I participate as a speaker in several continuing education courses and am a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Although I enjoy the diversity and challenge posed by all aspects of pulmonary (lung) medicine, I have a special interest in the management of severe asthma.
