
Overview
Dr. James Choi has been caring for Texas hearts since 2004. He is fellowship-trained in interventional cardiology. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology. Dr. Choi’s areas of clinical interest and focus include cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients; highly complex cardiology interventions: left main coronary artery and chronic total occlusions; valvular heart interventions; structural heart interventions: ASD/PFO/Left atrial appendage closure; and peripheral vascular disease. He has published numerous articles and conducted clinical research on coronary stent implantation and chronic total occlusions as well as novel renal artery denervation treatment for resistant hypertension.Dr. Choi earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, where he also completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology. He is the current medical director of Coronary, Renal and Structural Heart Technologies for the Baylor Research Institute in Dallas. He previously served as an associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in College Station and as the director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.Dr. Choi is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions. He currently chairs the DFW AngioClub and is a member of the American Heart Association, Texas Medical Association and Dallas County Medical Association. Dr. Choi has sat on numerous advisory boards, completed clinical research into various devices and cardiovascular procedures, and is active in the Korean-American medical community.

Parin Parikh, M.D., FACC, is a native Texan, having grown up in Plano and attended Plano Senior High School. He graduated from Yale University in New Haven, Conn., with honors and obtained his medical degree at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. He stayed in New York to complete his general and interventional cardiology fellowship at NYU Langone Medical Center, where he served as chief fellow in interventional cardiology.Parikh is one of the only cardiologists in North Texas to obtain six board certifications: interventional cardiology, cardiovascular medicine, internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, and registered physician in vascular interpretation. He also has advanced training in complex coronary and peripheral stenting and interventions. Parikh has special training in performing cardiac catheterization procedures from the wrist (radial artery catheterization), which can be safer and more comfortable for patients than the traditional femoral (groin) approach. Currently, less than five percent of the procedures in the United States are being performed using this new, innovative approach.Parikh also has specialty training in non-invasive cardiac and vascular imaging, including echocardiography, stress tests, nuclear medicine and peripheral vascular ultrasound studies. His areas of clinical expertise include coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease (including diabetic ulcers), critical limb ischemia, valvular heart disease, venous disease, cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Parikh is also conversant in Spanish.Parikh and his wife live in Dallas, and feel blessed to be close to over 40 extended family members in the DFW Metroplex. In addition to his numerous board-certifications, he also has advanced training as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).Dr. Ahmad completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where he served as chief resident during his final year of training and as chief cardiology fellow while pursuing his fellowship training. Dr. Ahmad completed an additional interventional cardiology fellowship at Michigan State University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Ahmad relocated to North Texas in 2019.
