Dr. Carl J. Horton
Overview
Carl Horton, M.D., is an Indianapolis, Ind., native. After deciding at an early age to pursue medicine as a career, he attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga., with that specific goal in mind. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate, he returned home to the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he completed his doctorate in medicine. He then spent six years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for his residency training in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiovascular diseases.Horton’s research interests at that time included cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients, and echocardiography. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases.After completing his fellowship, Horton moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and entered into private practice. He has practiced in several locations throughout the area. His clinical interests include valvular heart disease, hemodynamics, cardiac imaging, cardiomyopathies, cardiology in special populations, and “bedside” clinical cardiology.
