Carl Horton, M.D., is an Indianapolis, Ind., native. After deciding at an early age to pursue medicine as a career, he attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga., with that specific goal in mind. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate, he returned home to the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he completed his doctorate in medicine. He then spent six years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for his residency training in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiovascular diseases.Horton's research interests at that time included cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients, and echocardiography.
