Additionally, Dr. Barth participates in a multidisciplinary clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute providing Cardiology care to patients with muscular dystrophies and mitochondrial disease. Dr. Barth performs pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and complex catheter ablations for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. His basic research lab explores the relationship between metabolic and arrhythmogenic ion channel remodeling in heart failure and myotonic dystrophy. Dr. Barth earned a combined doctor of medicine and doctor of philosophy from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany. He joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2016. He has been recognized with the First Prize for the Stanley L. Blumenthal Cardiology Research Award in Clinical Science in the Division of Cardiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and as a Young Investigator Award Finalist of the American Heart Association and Heart Rhythm Society.
