Dr. Akif Mohammed

Ahmad Zankar, M.D., FACC, is fellowship-trained in general cardiology and interventional cardiology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and board-certified in general cardiology, echocardiography, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology. He brings nearly a decade of clinical, research and training experience to Presbyterian Heart & Vascular Group. Zankar's areas of specialization include minimally invasive, non-surgical therapy for heart and peripheral vascular disease; heart stent procedures; and complex peripheral vascular disease treatments, including laser, atherectomy and totally occluded artery techniques.Zankar attended medical school in Lebanon before coming to the United States for his residency training at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology. His previous work includes serving as an assistant professor in the Cardiology Division at UT Southwestern Medical School and as acting director for the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic and Transplantation Services at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, both in Dallas. David Eisen, M.D., is a transplanted Texan. He moved to Texas in 1984, where he founded Cardiac & Vascular Center of North Texas. He is the past chief of staff of North Hills Hospital, and is the medical director of the Cath Lab at Texas Health HEB. Dr. Khurram Ahmad worked as a Interventional Cardiologist at Beaumont and Henry Ford Systems in Michigan for 7 years before moving to Texas. He also served as the teaching faculty for the Oakwood Hospital cardiovascular Fellowship. He earned his medical degree with honors from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan before coming to the United States in 2004. He is a fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist with certification in internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, cardiac CT, and interventional cardiology. Dr. Ahmad's areas of special interest include coronary interventions, congestive heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, and vascular interpretations. In addition to his numerous board-certifications, he also has advanced training as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).Dr. Ahmad completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where he served as chief resident during his final year of training and as chief cardiology fellow while pursuing his fellowship training. Dr. Ahmad completed an additional interventional cardiology fellowship at Michigan State University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Ahmad relocated to North Texas in 2019.
