Surgical Oncology Aaron H. Chevinsky, M.D., FACS is a surgical oncologist and the director of the oncology service line for the Riverside Cancer Care Network. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the City College of New York Sophie Davis School for Biomedical Education and earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. Dr. Chevinsky also earned a Master of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in health sector management. He completed a general surgery residency at Stony Brook University Hospital and is fellowship trained in surgical oncology from Ohio State University Hospital. Dr. Chevinsky is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and earned a certificate of special competency in surgical critical care and he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Chevinsky cares for patients with complex and recurrent cancers. His expertise is in performing surgery for the treatment of breast, skin, pancreatic, liver, gallbladder, stomach, colon, melanoma, sarcoma and peritoneal surface cancers. His areas of special interest include breast and nipple-sparing surgeries for breast cancer patients and performing sentinel node biopsies. His philosophy of care centers around treating the whole patient and supporting their family. Dr. Chevinsky is an advocate for his patients, taking time to provide information on the treatment process and answering questions that arise. He focuses on listening to each patient so together they can select the best plan of care. Dr. Chevinsky and his wife, a registered nurse, have four children, all of whom are involved in the medical field. Being a native of New York and New Jersey, Dr. Chevinsky enjoys being in the Hampton Roads area and especially appreciates the friendly people, the history associated with the region and the recreational opportunities on the water.
