Dr. Anthony Estrera is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery, Dr. Estrera’s clinical interests include cardiac surgery, valvular heart disease, aortic aneurysms and aortic dissection. He has practiced in Houston since 1994, treating patients 18 and older. Dr. Estrera is professor and chief of cardiac surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth and medical director of Cardiovascular ICU and Cardiovascular IMU at Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute. He has received numerous professional recognitions and has authored or co-authored 26 book chapters and more than 100 articles in medical journals. Dr. Estrera’s practice philosophy reflects patient-centered care ensuring that “the patient always comes first.” He believes in good communications and provides individualized, personalized patient care. A resident of Houston, Dr. Estrera is married and the father of four children. His favorite leisure activities are running, swimming, reading and coaching.
